How to Move an Email to Another Folder in iPhone Mail

To move an email to a different email folder in Apple Mail for iPhone or iPad.
- Open the message you want to move.
- Tap the move message folder icon in the bottom toolbar.
- Find and tap the folder where you want the email to end up.

Move from the Message List
To move an email from the message list directly without opening it first:
- Open the folder (or search results) that shows the message you want to move.
- Swipe over the messages from the right until the list of actions appears.
Not too much, not too little: If you swipe only very little, the message will snap back; if you swipe all the way through, the default action for a left swipe will be taken.
Shortcut: You can add moving to the left swipe menu as an action or make set long right swipes to move. - Tap More.
- Select Move Message from the menu that has appeared.
Shortcut: If you have previously moved similar emails to a particular folder, it may appear as a shortcut; do choose Move to <Folder> instead to move the email directly to that folder. - Now choose the destination folder for moving.
Move Multiple Emails in Bulk in iOS Mail
To move more than one email to a different mailbox in iPhone Mail:
- Go to the folder that contains the emails you want to move.
Search: You can use email search in iPhone Mail, of course, to collect messages in one place for moving. - Tap Select.
Search: In iPhone Mail search results, tap Edit instead. - Now check all the messages you want to move.

Can I copy an email instead of moving it?
No.
iPhone Mail does not create duplicates of emails. You can move messages between folders, but you cannot copy them to another folder.
Can I move emails using dragging and dropping?
Yes.
To move an email without menus in Mail for iPhone and iPad:
- Tap and hold the message you want to move until its context menu appears.
- Drag the email over the folder where you want it to go in the folder list.
No folder list: If you do not see the folder list, drag and hold the message over < Mailboxes until the folder list loads. - Let go of the message to move it.
How do I move emails to different inbox tabs?
Moving messages works between folders, not for re-classifying a message in the inbox.
