You subscribed to your favorite channels on YouTube so you would see their latest videos — and all you get when you open YouTube is pages and pages of videos you barely care to skip? Afraid you’re at the mercy of the whims and extortions of some black-box algorithm? Find out here how to see the latest videos from your channel subscriptions on YouTube — and nothing else.

Liquids in a bottle naturally cease to be liquid when the temperatures push them towards freezing. The solidifying stubbornly starts — right at the bottleneck, which transforms from literal to metaphorical: no amount of force or groaning will unscrew a frozen cap.

To see the latest updates from the channels in your YouTube subscriptions:

  1. Select Subscriptions in YouTube.

    Here’s where: Select Subscriptions in the sidebar on the web or the bottom toolbar in a YouTube app.
    The link: You can open (and bookmark) https://youtube.com/feed/subscriptions directly in your browser.

  2. Optional: Choose any channel under Subscriptions to see just that channel’s upload history.

    Here’s where: Select the channel in the sidebar.
    No sidebar: If you see no individual channels in the sidebar, click or tap the hamburger menu first to expand the sidebar.

How to See Only New Videos for Your Subscriptions on YouTube: FAQ

Can I change the order in which videos are presented?

No.

The videos under YouTube subscriptions will always appear in reverse chronological order with the latest videos on top.

Can I filter certain channels?

No.

All new videos and live streams from all your subscriptions will show. You can see any individual channel’s latest uploads, of course; see above.

Will played videos appear in the subscriptions list?

Yes.

The list of videos from your subscriptions is a strictly chronological affair of all videos (except those you have hidden).

Can I hide videos from subscriptions?

Yes.

To hide a video from the subscription feed:

  1. Tap or click the three buttons menu for the video.
  2. Select Hide from the context menu that appears.

Can I open the subscriptions-only list while playing videos in YouTube?

Yes.

If you open the list while a playlist (or YouTube queue) is playing, the video player will minimize to show the list. You can add new videos to your queue through continued playback.
