How to Share Tasks in Apple Reminders (iPhone, iPad and Mac)
Time needed: 3 minutes
To share a list of tasks in Apple Reminders on an iPhone or a Mac:
- Open the list you want to share in Apple Reminders.
Mac: You can also click on the list you want to share with the right mouse button and select Share List from the menu
iPhone and iPad: Tap and hold the list you want to share and select Share List.
New list: You can set up a new list just for sharing, of course, to share only select tasks. - Select Invite with Link from the sharing sheet that has appeared.
Contacts: You can also pick a known contact or a different method for sharing the link to the list, of course.
- Type a contact’s name or the email address or phone number of the person with whom you are sharing the list under To:.
More than one: You can share a list with multiple people in one go; add them one by one under To:.
- Click Copy Link.
- Send the link to the recipient or recipients by email or text message, for instance.
Crucial: This step is necessary; Apple Reminders will not send the invitation directly.

Assign Tasks in a Shared List in Apple Reminders
To mark a list member responsible for (completing) a task in a shared list in Reminders:
- Click or tap the task title to open it for editing.
- Now click or tap the Assign To button for the task.
Here’s where: The button is between the button for tags and the one for flagging a task. - Select the list member to assign the task to them.
How to Share Tasks in Apple Reminders: FAQ
Can I share an individual task?
No.
You cannot share individual tasks inside Apple Reminders. To share a task, move it to a shared list or a new, separate list which you then share.
Can I share a to-do list template?
Yes.
You can share a to-do list template in Apple Reminders. Those able to access the shared template can start a new list (in their Apple Reminders) using the template but cannot edit the template itself.
How can I remove somebody from a shared list?
To stop somebody from accessing a list in Apple Reminders:
- Go to the shared list in Apple Reminders.
- Tap or click the Communicate with participants and manage shared list button at its top.
- Select Manage Shared List from the menu that has appeared.
- Click the three dots menu (on a Mac) or tap (on iPhone and iPad) for the member you want to remove.
- Select Remove Access.
