First, If You Do Not Buy Your Oranges

If you do not buy your oranges one by one, you probably get them in a net. Curiously, the net shows about the same hue of orange as the eponymous fruit inside.

Is it the fruit, though, rubbing off its color on the net or, vice versa, the net coloring the fruit?

If we can assume an application of the “confetti effect” and examine each specimen on its own, it’s probably more of the latter: the surroundings influence color perception, and the net is pretty orange in neutral surroundings—while the oranges may or may not be so, well, orange, on their own.

How to Organize Lists in Groups with Microsoft To Do

Time needed: 2 minutes

To set up groups to organize task lists in Microsoft To Do:

  1. Click Create a new group (or New group) in the Microsoft To Do sidebar.

    Here’s where: Click the hamburger button to reveal the list of lists in MS To Do for Windows and the web.
    MS To Do apps: Tap < Lists in MS To Do for iOS and Android.
    On a Mac: Press Command 1 in MS To Do for Mac to reveal the sidebar.
    Click “Create a new group” to start organizing lists in Microsoft To Do

  2. Type the name you want to use for the group of to-do lists over Untitled group.

  3. Add lists to the group as desired.

    Here’s how: Drag and drop lists to the new group to move them to it.
    Arranging lists: You can also use dragging and dropping to change the order of to-do lists inside the group.

  4. Press Enter.

Remove a Group in MS To Do

To delete a group in Microsoft To Do:

  1. Click on the group title with the right mouse button.
    MS To Do for iOS and Android: Expand the group in the list and tap the three dots menu icon.
  2. Select Ungroup Lists from the menu that has appeared.
    Empty group: To delete an empty group, select Delete group instead.

Rename a Group

To change the name for a group in MS To Do:

  1. Click the group title with the right mouse button or tap the three-dots context menu button.
  2. Select Rename group (or Rename Group) from the menu that has appeared.
  3. Type the name you want to use for the group.
  4. Press Enter.

Can I set up groups within groups?

No.

Microsoft To Do lets you set up one level of groups. You can organize lists in groups but not groups inside groups.

Can two groups have the same name?

Yes.

To confuse or amuse, you can set up two groups with the same name.

Can I change the group icon in MS To Do?

No.

For groups, Microsoft To Do will always use the standard group icon.
