To make the paragraph symbol on Linux using Gnome:

Add and switch to the US-English International keyboard layout with dead keys.
Gnome: Click the input menu in the menu bar and choose English (US, Intl, with dead keys) from the menu.
KDE: Press Meta Alt K (or Ctrl Alt K or Command Alt K) until the keyboard layout is selected.
US-International: See below for adding the US-English International keyboard layout.
Position the text cursor where you want to insert the paragraph sign.
Press AltGr ;.
For sections other than paragraphs: You can also enter the section symbol on Linux, of course.

To insert the pilcrow with the help of the Linux “Compose” key:

Set up and enable the “Compose” key.
Position the text cursor where you want to insert the paragraph sign.
Press the key set up to act as Compose.
Now press P and Shift 1 (!) in succession.
Alternative: You can also press Shift P twice for PP.
