How to Change Your Name on iCloud Email: FAQ
Will editing the name on iCloud.com also affect the name when I send from Mail on iPhone or Mac?
Partly. Name changes at iCloud.com
- will not automatically apply in Mail on iOS and iPadOS but
- will automatically reflect in your email sending name in Mail for macOS on a Mac.
You can, of course, always change the sending name for iPhone Mail.
What characters can I use in my iCloud email sending name?
While iCloud Mail lets you get creative with your name, some characters are not possible:
- You can use any Unicode (UTF-8) character (including emoji and their plain text versions)
- except
"(double quotation marks),<(smaller than)>(bigger than)@(at) and:(colon).
These are characters with special meaning in the “From:” lines of email (separating the name from the email address, for instance), and iCloud Mail will not let you use them in escaped (e.g., \") or quoted fashion (such as '"') either.
Can each iCloud email alias have its own name?
Yes.
If you have set up alias email addresses in iCloud Mail, you can choose a unique sending name for each.
