First, the Shortcut to Learning Comes at the End

Lamentably neglected yes among the fastest ways to pick up anything is testing.

If you quiz yourself on a subject, you can expect to remember more than if you had spent the time on (additional) study. This is true even if you are not graded; and even if you do not get to find out whether your answers were right.

(Had I to guess a factor for this “testing effect”, my guess would be guessing. Being forced to settle on an answer does engage the learning facilities.)
