To change the (displayed) font size for reading and writing messages in iOS Mail for iPhone:
- Open the Settings app on the iPhone (or iPad).
- Go to the Accessibility category.
- Choose Display & Text Size.
- Now select Larger Text.
- Use the slider at the bottom to make text
Even bigger: To increase the font size even further, turn on Larger Accessibility Sizes, then use the slider’s right side.

You can also enlarge any part of an email as is, of course:
- Position two fingers on the part you want to enlarge.
- Spread the two fingers on the screen to zoom.

Can I change the font size for the recipient?
No.
iPhone Mail always sends messages text without font size information, both in plain text and using formatting (such as bold text or italics). The recipient can enlarge the font size for viewing on their device, of course, or zoom in.
