On Windows? How to Add iCloud Calendar to Outlook for Windows

Time needed: 3 minutes

To add your calendars from iCloud to Outlook for Mac:

  1. Create an application password for Outlook for Mac in iCloud.

  2. Select Tools | Accounts from the menu in Outlook for Mac.

  3. Click + (Add an account) below the list of current accounts.

  4. Select New Account….

  5. Type the email address of your iCloud account.

  6. Click Continue.

  7. Click Continue again to add the iCloud calendar via cloud sync.

    No cloud sync: If your version of Outlook does not support or if you prefer not to use Microsoft cloud synchronization, see below.

  8. Type the iCloud application password over Password.

  9. Click Add Account.

  10. Now click Done.

To add an iCloud calendar to Outlook for Mac without Microsoft cloud sync:

  1. Set up a new application-specific iCloud password for Outlook.
  2. Select Tools | Accounts… from the menu in Outlook for Mac.
  3. Now choose + | New Account… under the list of current accounts.
  4. Enter the iCloud email address for your account.
  5. Click Not iCloud?.
  6. Turn off Sync with Microsoft Cloud.
  7. Now select iCloud.
  8. Type your name over Full name (optional).
    Empty name: You need not use a specific name for the iCloud account.
  9. Enter the iCloud application password over Password.
  10. Click Add Account.

What does it mean to synchronize iCloud with Microsoft Cloud?

When you add an iCloud account and calendar to Outlook for Mac through Microsoft Cloud,

  • Microsoft creates an Exchange account that automatically synchronizes data with iCloud and
  • works like an Exchange account in Outlook for Mac.

Without Microsoft cloud synchronization, iCloud Calendars still work fine in Outlook for Mac.

Does Microsoft Cloud sync mean iCloud Calendars will show up in other Outlook installs using the same Microsoft account?

No, even though synchronizing with Microsoft cloud means data is in your Outlook.com Exchange account, the data will not show up automatically on Outlook.com or, for instance, Outlook on Windows using the same account.

You can always add iCloud calendars to Outlook for Windows, of course.
